The Momentum Podcast

How do I create more time? How do I get organized so I can finally relax and enjoy my life? How do I improve my energy? How do I ask for help? How can I be more patient with my kids? How can I be more present? How can I find time for self-care? How do I help my child who is struggling with his/her mental health? How do I make time for a girl’s night out? How can I find balance in my life? How can I improve communication with my spouse? If you’ve ever asked yourself (or Google) any of these questions, then this show is for you!

The Mom-entum podcast aims to serve overwhelmed Moms who struggle to find balance. It’s a place for Moms to find solutions to problems and get support all along the way. As they say, “it takes a village”. Many of us feel like where is the village? We feel like we have no help. We feel like we must do it alone. And although we are never alone, we can’t even go to the bathroom without a kid infringing on our privacy, we ironically feel so lonely at times.

The Mom-entum podcast bypasses the small talk and gets right into the real struggles Moms face every day. We talk to real moms who are deep in the trenches as well as the ones who have been there and have come to share what they’ve learned along the way. Each week, I’ll introduce new ways of thinking and discuss tangible, actionable tools that you can implement to simplify your life and promote peace and joy in your home. Go from treading water to finally finding your flow in motherhood.

Welcome to another episode of The Mom-entum Podcast, where we dive deep into empowering mothers on their journey through motherhood. I’m your host, Tanya Valentine, and today we're tackling a common struggle:  mealtimes with your children.
Picture this: it's that infamous "bewitching hour," dinner prep is in full swing, and chaos ensues. Toddlers tug at your clothes, while older kids wreak havoc around the house. The table is set, but mealtime rebellion begins as soon as plates hit the table. If this scenario feels all too familiar, you're not alone.
In today’s conversation, we'll explore strategies to bring peace to your family dinners. Before you dismiss the idea as impossible, consider this: what if there's a way to ease the tension and create a more harmonious atmosphere? Join me as we unpack the beliefs and behaviors that contribute to mealtime stress and discover actionable steps to reclaim peace at the dinner table.
By challenging our programming and embracing a mindset shift, we can redefine what mealtimes look like for our families. Let go of unrealistic expectations and embrace the beautiful chaos of parenting, one meal at a time.
If you're ready to transform your family dinners and experience more peace around the table, tune in to today's episode. And remember, change starts with awareness and intention. Let's embark on this journey together and create lasting harmony in our homes.

In this episode of the Mom-entum Podcast, I dive into the transformative power of Dr. Denis Mukwege's book, "The Power of Women: A Doctor’s Journey of Hope and Healing." Inspired by an interview on Oprah's Super Soul Podcast, I explore Dr. Mukwege's remarkable story as a Congolese ob-gyn and Nobel Peace Prize winner dedicated to ending sexual violence and advocating for women's rights.
Through storytelling and personal reflections, I highlight the profound impact of Dr. Mukwege's work and share insights into the global issue of sexual violence. From the challenges faced by women in the Congo to the broader implications for gender equality worldwide, this episode offers a thought-provoking exploration of the importance of education, advocacy, and empowerment.
I invite you to join me on a journey of discovery as I discuss the book's key themes, including resilience, activism, and the power of purpose. Whether you're a parent navigating the complexities of motherhood or simply seeking inspiration to effect positive change, this episode offers valuable insights and practical ways to make a difference in the world.

Today’s episode is a must-listen, especially if you’re expecting or planning to expand your family. We’ve got the amazing Gina Mundy on the show, and let me tell you, she’s not your average attorney. Gina specializes in childbirth cases, drawing from over two decades of experience to help parents like us navigate the journey to a safer childbirth.
Gina’s insights are absolute gold, whether you’re expecting a baby or not. She breaks down common mistakes made during labor and delivery and arms us with the knowledge to prevent them. Trust me, this info is a game-changer for everyone, from expectant parents to grandparents eagerly awaiting those delivery room moments.
As Gina dives into her book, “A Parent’s Guide to a Safer Childbirth,” she shares personal stories and eye-opening lessons learned from her cases. From understanding your delivery team to selecting the right doctor and creating a birth plan, Gina covers it all. But the real gems? Her emphasis on the importance of preparation and having a trusted advocate by your side during childbirth.
So, mama, here are the key takeaways from today’s chat:
1.Knowledge is Power: Educate yourself and be prepared for childbirth decisions.
2.Choose Your Advocate: Find someone who understands your wishes and can support you during labor and delivery.
3.Speak Up: Don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself and your baby. THIS IS YOUR LIFE, and ultimately YOU hold the power to make the decisions.  Your delivery team is there to present you with their knowledge, expertise, and medical opinion, but at the end of the day no one can do anything without your consent.
With Gina’s guidance, we can approach childbirth with confidence, knowing we have the tools to advocate for a safer, healthier experience. Trust me, this episode is one you won’t want to miss!
